Call to Prayer

Earlier today I had a lovely catch up with Caylie, and, as usual, we talked a lot about how and why we pray. Shortly after, the church bells rang across Germany to remind the country to pray for the end of the pandemic. Then I wrote this poem. Shortly after that, the daily alarm rang on my phone to remind me to pray for one of my students.

There’s so much sickness in the world.

Can you hear the Bells?

Let’s pray.

There’s so much hurt in the world.

Can you hear the Bells?

Let’s pray.

There’s so much hate in the world.

Can you hear the Bells?

Let’s pray.

There’s so much confusion in the world.

Can you hear the Bells?

Let’s pray.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

I want to add clarity to the world.

Can you hear the Bells?

Let’s pray.

I want to add love to the world.

Can you hear the Bells?

Let’s pray.

I want to add comfort to the world.

Can you hear the Bells?

Let’s pray.

I want to add healing to the world.

Can you hear the Bells?

Let’s pray.
